Server Installation & Maintenance

In a networked environment it makes sense to run the functions and services shared by multiple workstations (users) on dedicated server machines. Servers bring centralized configuration and data management, making it easy to handle user and access rights, data storage, and backups efficiently.

To protect your data, we recommend RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology, which guards against storage disk failure. It keeps systems running continuously, without data loss or service outages, and

It’s worth noting that RAID arrays don’t protect against failures of other hardware components (memory, CPU, motherboard, disk controller, etc.), or against data loss caused by user error - so regular backups are strongly recommended in every case.

Where the server has internet access (over a dedicated, restricted, encrypted channel), remote management tools become available, extending to workstations as well. This lets us resolve system-administration tasks (installs, updates, configuration changes) and any issues that arise quickly and efficiently.

Beyond management tooling, remote access to services can also be provided via VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology, giving secure remote access to company documents, email, applications and other shared resources.

Depending on load and hardware performance, a single server can handle multiple roles at once (e.g. file server, DHCP, print server), or run several independent operating systems side by side using virtualization
